Care for Children with Additional Needs

Ivytencity Children’s Services

Care, Support & Nursing at Home for Children with Additional Needs

Looking after a child with additional needs 24/7, 365 days a year is not an easy task and can be a stressful experience for a family. That’s where Ivytencity can step in to help and provide that bit of extra support for parents and extended family.

An additional helping hand is always gratefully received, especially when your child has complex care needs. However, this requires trust and assurance that your child is in good hands.

What conditions does Ivytencity Children’s Care support?
We understand the challenges of looking after a child with additional needs, and understand you need to trust an external person to help you with the care for your child.

Our team of professionals can support children and young people with Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities and Complex Care needs. We offer support with social interaction, access to the community and personal care.

Our care assistants and support workers are specifically trained to deal with a range of conditions, and can care for conditions including:

  • Tracheostomy Care
  • Acquired Brain Injury
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder

Our fully trained care teams have practical experience in dealing with challenging behaviors, autistic spectrum disorders, physical disabilities and sensory impairments.

Should your child have complex care requirements, such as support with administering complex medication, we can provide the support of highly skilled healthcare professionals, with specific skills, tailored to meet your complex requirements.

What activities does children’s care include?
Every family has a unique situation which requires a different approach. Therefore, at Ivytencity we provide care plans tailored all our clients to ensure that we satisfy all their individual needs, and giving them the best quality of life possible.

As well as care in the home, our team of trained children’s care professionals can provide social visits and activities, such as accompanying to swimming sessions, youth groups, shopping, help with socialising in group settings, play centres, parks or the beach. Alternatively, we can just be there to help with mornings or bedtime routines.

If you currently receive support from other organisations, such as Social Services, Local Authorities or charitable bodies, we are able to work in partnership with them to ensure a consistent approach to your child’s care is adopted.

We are able to offer anything from one-hour daily visits, to longer shifts through the day, all the way up to 24/7 live-in care. We can offer care on a regular basis, or on a respite care basis.

Many families benefit greatly from having the one-to-one care and attention that our children’s care at home service provides, something that they may struggle asking family with other commitments to help with.

Benefits of Children's Care

Respite of the Family

As a human being we all need a break where we can recharge and be ready for the next days. With the respite care support our professional carers will take care of your child while you take that needed time off duty. As a parent of a child with additional needs some days could be exhausting and stressful affecting your wellbeing and social life. Having a day for yourself or a few hours per day/week can definitely improve your mental and physical health.

More time for the rest of the Family

we understand that as a parent your child's needs are more important than yours. However, sometimes we ignore our significant other, our other children, family and friends unintentionally. With the support of our children's carers, you will have more time for them without feeling guilty about not focusing on your child with additional needs.

Feel more like parent than a carer

with our children's care support you can once again feel more like a parent than a carer. We understand that sometimes you need to put emotions to one side and do what is needed to be done. With the support we provide you don't need to put that wall again.

A shoulder to lean on

our carers will support and help you with daily tasks for your child's needs so that you won't feel overwhelmed at the end of the day. We will take the pressure off your shoulders.

What to Expect

Initial Enquiry

Once we receive an enquiry, one of our team will contact your social worker to discuss your child's care needs as soon as possible. Then the next step will be to contact you to arrange an assessment. We will answer any questions you may have about our service or any aspect of children's care you would like to learn more about.

Assessment Stage

Following on from your initial contact, if you would like to move to the next stage, we will arrange a visit to your home and make a detailed assessment of your requirements and care your child needs. If you require a complex care, we will have a follow up with our complex team as they will also need to support the assessment process to make sure your child's need are met appropriately within their care plan.

Meet the Carer

Once the assessment is complete, we will then arrange for staff to do meet and greets before the care can commence to ensure that parents, child and carers are all introduced.

Your Care Package Begins

The last step will be completing all the final details, including the start date. Once that is confirmed your care plan begins.
